About the app
What is Runese?
+
Runese is a running training app that builds a personalised plan for your goal: 0→5K for new runners, or 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon plans for improving a time or peaking for a race. Every week mixes easy, tempo, interval and long runs around the days you can train, with live GPS, treadmill and watch workouts, Apple Health and Strava sync, and race predictions. Runese launches first on iPhone with Apple Watch support. Android follows. See all features
Is Runese free?
+
Runese is free to download. Runese Pro unlocks the full plan, live tracking and race predictions for £5.99 a month or £39.99 a year, billed through your app store, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. A friend's referral code gives you both 14 days of Pro. Pricing
Which phones and watches does Runese work on?
+
Runese launches first on iPhone with Apple Watch support. Android follows. Workouts run on the iPhone (outdoor GPS or treadmill) or hand off to Apple Watch, and save to Apple Health and Strava when you finish. Workouts and Apple Watch

Training plans
Which distances does Runese have plans for?
+
Five plans: Zero to 5K (an 8-week walk/run programme), 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon. The distance plans run 16 weeks by default; if your race is further away the extra weeks go into the base phase, and tighter timelines still build with a warning. Training plans
How is a Runese plan personalised?
+
You choose the goal (start running, improve a time, or a race on a date), how many days a week you can run (2 to 6), which weekdays, and which day is your long run. Target paces come from your current 5K. The plan puts easy days between hard sessions, raises weekly volume by no more than 10% at a time, drops the load every fourth week, and tapers before a race. Setting up an Improve Pace plan
Do I need a 5K time to start?
+
Not for the Zero to 5K plan. It uses walk/run intervals set by ability (beginner, intermediate or advanced) and trains by time. Every other plan needs a current 5K time so training paces and race predictions mean something. When you finish 0→5K the app prompts you to save that time as your first 5K. Zero to 5K plan
What session types are in a plan?
+
Easy runs at conversational effort, tempo runs about 8–10% slower than 5K pace, intervals of 400m reps at around 5K pace with jog recoveries, a weekly long run at easy effort, walk/run sessions on the 0→5K plan, and rest days. Every session has warm-up, work and cool-down blocks. Session types
What happens if I miss a session?
+
It stays missed. Runese does not silently reshuffle your week. Open Manage plan, tap Defer on that run and pick a later free day, or leave it and carry on with the next session. Adjusting workouts
Can I keep parkrun on Saturdays?
+
Yes. Turn on parkrun when you build the plan and a 5K stays locked to every Saturday, with the long run moved to another day you choose. Keeping parkrun on Saturday
How long is the Zero to 5K plan?
+
Eight weeks. Weeks 1 to 7 are walk/run sessions that build toward continuous running, with optional 2K, 3K and 4K try days. Week 8 ends with a 5K Day of run chunks and walk breaks rather than a race. The intensity steps back every fourth week so the load can settle. Zero to 5K plan
Workouts, watch and sync
Does Runese work with Apple Watch?
+
Yes. Start a workout on the iPhone and hand it off to Apple Watch, or run outdoors with the phone's GPS or on a treadmill. The watch follows the warm-up, work and cool-down blocks with voice cues, next-lap and pause, then saves back to Runese. Workouts and Apple Watch
Does Runese sync with Strava?
+
Yes. Connect Strava once in Profile and every workout you save uploads automatically. Your training week stays in Runese; the activity also appears on Strava. Settings, explained
Does Runese sync with Apple Health?
+
Yes. Runese reads steps and workouts from Apple Health, writes the sessions you run, and pairs activities recorded elsewhere back to the plan by date. Android health sync arrives with the Android app. Settings, explained
How does Runese predict my race times?
+
With the Riegel formula: predicted time = known time × (target distance ÷ known distance) ^ 1.06. It uses your current 5K to estimate 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon times, and updates as you log faster runs. The same formula powers the free race time predictor on this site. Race time predictor
