Settings, explained
Every Profile row — account, preferences, voice cues, Health, Strava, widgets and more.
8 min read · Written for the iPhone app. Android is coming soon.
Almost everything lives on the Profile tab. Tap the pen on your avatar to change your name; the rows below handle the rest.
Account
- Runese ProProfile → Runese Pro
- Subscribe to unlock the full plan, live GPS / treadmill / Watch tracking, and race predictions. If you already have Pro, this opens your app store’s subscription management (cancel, change plan, or update billing). Monthly and yearly prices are shown in your local currency in the app.
- Your plansProfile → Your plans
- See every plan on this account. Tap one to make it active. Swipe left or use the row menu to delete — that cannot be undone, but runs you already recorded stay in Sessions. New plan walks the same setup as first launch.
- NotificationsProfile → Notifications
- First tap asks your phone for permission (training-day reminders at 7:30, plus a ping when Health gets a new run). After that, the row opens your phone’s Settings so you can switch them off or on. Runese does not keep a second notification toggle of its own.
- BillingProfile → Billing
- Subscription history, including free and trial periods. From here you can jump to your app store to manage it. Purchases always go through the app store — we never see your card.
Rewards
- Your invite codeProfile → Rewards
- Share the personal code (or the link from it). A new runner who enters it at sign-up grants you both 14 days of Pro. You cannot refer yourself, and one code is used per new account.
- Enter invite code
- Apply a friend or promo code if you did not add one at sign-up. Codes are checked as you type.
- Referrals Plus
- Shown if you are on the partner programme. Add the bank account we should pay — full name or company name, GBP or USD, and an IBAN or a UK account number and sort code — and review earnings.
Preferences
- Appearance
- Auto follows your phone. Light and Dark stay put. This applies to the whole app, including sheets and the run screen.
- Distance units
- Kilometres or miles. Used for every pace and distance in the app, Home Screen widgets, and the Watch workout we send.
- Daily step goal
- Defaults to 10,000. Adjust in 500-step steps between 2,000 and 30,000. Shown on the Stats ring and the Daily Steps widget.
Voice and cues
These persist for the next run. You do not set them again when you tap Start.
- Voice coaching
- Spoken cues for each rep and recovery. Turn it off and the same prompts still show on screen — just silent. Music ducks only while a cue speaks.
- Split call-outs
- When voice is on: every kilometre or mile, every half, or off. Labels follow your distance units.
- Pace alerts
- Speak up when you drift off the target pace for the current block. Walk/run 0→5K sessions have no pace target, so there is nothing to chase.
Apps
- Apple Health
- Reads workouts and distance, writes the run you save. Watch sessions come back through Health — leave this on if you run on your wrist. If steps are missing, a warning row appears: open Health → Sharing → Runese and turn Steps on.
- Strava
- Connect once. When you save a run you can upload it. Runese never edits activities that are already on Strava.
- Calendar
- Writes the active plan onto your phone’s calendar so training days show up next to the rest of your week. Toggle off to stop syncing.
- Widgets
- Home Screen: Daily Steps (small and medium), Upcoming Runs, Pace Zones, Heart Zones, Predictions. Add them with a long-press → Edit → Add Widget → Runese. Lock Screen: long-press → Customize → circular Runese widget.
- Synced data
- How many sessions sit on this phone versus on Runese. We sync the last 30 days automatically. Import older Apple Health runs from here when you want the history.
Help, legal and account
- Rate Runese
- Opens the app store review prompt. Takes a few seconds.
- Contact, Help, Privacy, Terms
- Contact support opens the contact form on this site. Help opens these guides; Privacy and Terms open the legal pages. The version at the bottom is just the build number.
- Sign out
- Under Manage account. Ends this session on the phone. Your plans stay on the account — sign in again the same way you signed up.
