About
A running plan that fits your week, from a small team in the UK.
Runese is made by OKD Limited, an independent software company in Ipswich, England. We built it because most plans assume you can run whenever the plan says. You cannot, and neither can we.
What Runese is
Runese is a running training app for iPhone and Apple Watch, with Android to follow. It builds a personalised plan for one of three goals: start running with an eight-week walk/run programme to your first 5K, improve your time over 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon, or peak for a race on a specific date.
Every week combines easy runs, tempo runs, intervals and a long run, with rest days in between. Each session has warm-up, work and cool-down blocks with target paces. You run it outdoors with GPS, on a treadmill, or hand it to your watch, then it saves to Apple Health and Strava.
The app is free to download. Runese Pro unlocks the full plan, live tracking and race predictions as a monthly or yearly subscription with a seven-day free trial.
How the plans are built
The week you actually have
Two to six days. Pick the weekdays and which one is the long run. The plan is built around that, not the other way round. Parkrun can stay on Saturday.
Hard days never neighbour
Tempo and interval sessions always have an easy day or rest between them. Weekly volume rises by no more than 10%, every fourth week is a cutback, and a race plan tapers 20% then 40%.
Paces from a number you have
Every training pace is derived from your current 5K: intervals at about 5K pace, tempo around 9% slower, easy and long runs 25–30% slower. Log a faster run and the paces move with you.
Honest predictions
Race estimates use the Riegel formula (time × distance ratio ^ 1.06). It is the standard model coaches have used for decades, and we show it rather than hide it, in the app and in the free web tools.
Missed runs stay missed
The plan does not silently reshuffle behind your back. Defer a session yourself, or move on. You always know what the week is asking of you.
Your data goes where you want it
Workouts save to Apple Health and Strava when you finish. Runese reads what you have already recorded elsewhere and pairs it to the plan by date.
